The PlayStation blog (comment #27 & #42) comments have a rep from SquareEnix saying that the early access copy doesn't include the registration code and is intended for existing (at the time) PS3 owners. After looking around online the only people I see who had this issue are from April when people downloaded the early access version when that was listed as free and didn't have a PS3 registration code.

One theory I have is that the codes that Sony Rewards are generating are for the PS4's early access / PS3-to-PS4 upgrade version which would have no registration code tied to it. Square Enix will not give me a registration code, Playstation will not give me a copy of the game that includes a license, and Sony Rewards will not refund my points nor give me a code that will work.ĭoes anyone have any advice on what I should do next, or am I just screwed out of the points and download? TL DR I redeemed Sony Rewards points for a PS4 FFXIV download that didn't come with a registration code built-in. The odd thing about this is that in the game's landing page and PSN Store on the PS4 and the website, I can see the transaction for FFXIV, but it still displays "buy" or "add to cart". They, however, say that I've redeemed the code and there is nothing that they can do. Playstation tells me that I need the registration code from Square and Square tells me that the digital copies have the registration code "built-in" and that I need to do nothing but start the application.Īfter spending ~4 hours talking to various support people, I'm told by both Square and Playstation to contact Sony Rewards and refund my points. I made several calls to both Square and Playstation. Basically telling me I have a bad download. So on yesterday, 9-2, I contact Square-Enix and they do some looking and tell me that the digital downloads contain the registration key, so I need to work with Playstation to fix the issue. I call Playstation tech support and they send me to Square, who is closed on weekends and holidays. Please register the promotion code included with your package or download." There's an "OK" button that when clicked displays a screen telling me to close the application. When it finishes and I start it up, the launcher updates and it starts to play some music when I get the message "Cannot launch Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The next day, Saturday 8-30, I redeemed the code on the PSN Store and the download starts. I redeemed the points and got the code shortly after. Having not played FFXI for a long time and having the "itch" again, I decided to go for it. While browsing Sony Rewards site last week, I noticed that I can redeem my points for a digital copy of FFXIV on the PS4. (sorry for the wall of text, but it's the whole story)
